Does the data tell the whole story?

Post prompted in response to a BBC News online article on sewage pollutions and water company performance. Digest and link to post.

I've posted some thoughts on the use of data in reporting. Specifically these address the data on water company performance with regard to sewage pollutions as reported on the BBC but the post makes a more general point about the use of (partial) data and the (completeness) of analysis performed on it and conclusions made from it and poses the question: "How do we ensure the analysis also takes into account the wider context into which the specific data plays?"

LInk to the post on LinkedIn which contains a link to the BBC article which prompted it: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7178741624095576064/
